    I am a molecular epidemiologist whose research interests include structural birth defects and childhood cancer. I use large-scale, population-based data in combination with metabolomics and genomics approaches to identify factors associated with these phenotypes, and to understand the molecular basis for their tendency to co-occur. My pre-doctoral work was in nutritional epidemiology, and I maintain an interest in the associations between maternal and childhood dietary habits and risk for birth defect and childhood cancer. I am active in several national and international organizations, including the Children’s Oncology Group, Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention and Childhood Leukemia International Consortium.

    Quantitative Assessment of Liver Fibrosis in Biliary Atresia using Second-Harmonic Generation/Two-Photon Excited Fluorescence (SHG/TPEF) Microscopy and Correlation with Clinical Parameters and Plasma Biomarkers
    Role Description: In this exploratory proposal, our goal is to assess liver fibrosis in BA using second-harmonic generation/two-photon excited fluorescence (SHG/TPEF) microscopy, an innovative method which quantifies 100 different variables of collagen dynamics from a single needle biopsy sample.
