PropertyValue
overview Dr. Kahalley's research focuses on issues of pediatric cancer survivorship. She has an active research program in radiation-related neurocognitive late effects in pediatric neuro-oncology. Recent NCI-funded studies are examining white matter toxicity and related neurocognitive functioning in pediatric brain tumor survivors treated with proton beam radiation therapy compared to other treatments (photon radiation therapy and surgery alone). Dr. Kahalley has also been active in characterizing attention late effects experienced by survivors of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and brain tumors. She has also been involved in examining the functional impact of pediatric cancer and its treatment, particularly as related to survivors’ health behavior decisions.
